The Apollo S65 integrating ionisation smoke detector detects a fire by irradiating the air in the actual smoke chamber, which causes a current flow.
Once smoke is present in the chamber, the current flow will decrease; which will then trigger an alarm.
These integrating detectors protect for up to 20 seconds, against transient levels of smoke, which are greater than the normal threshold.
The S65 series detectors are extremely popular, as they are compatible with some other manufacturers fire alarm systems; including the CFP702 range of panels from C-Tec.
